6.24.11

The 4th of July tournament schedule is now up.

6.19.11

Canton Crew 6 Akron Lasiks 4

Nate Miller toed the rubber game two and looked solid, only giving up 4 hits. The Lasiks got to him in the 6th, a cominbation of wildness and hits gave the Lasiks the late 4-3 lead.

The Crew rallied in the top of the 7th, Steve Roberts lead it off with his 4th hit of the day, TJ Howsare and Tom DeAngelis all followed suit. Matt Tafe grounded into a double play, scoring a run, and Jake Stahl also singled, driving in the 3rd run of the inning.

Tyler Asbury, who came on with two outs in the 6th, pitched the 7th and got his second win.

Canton Crew 0 at Akron Lasiks 8

Dave Ford took to the mound for the third time this season and didn't pitch badly, but the deep and balanced lineup of the Akron Lasiks gave him a workout. A few defensive miscues from the Crew defense gave Lasiks pitcher Anthony Barson all he would need to seal the win.

The Crew offense only mustered two hits for the game, and struck out 7 times.

6.13.11

Canton Crew 0 at Team Diesel 4

Little went right for the Crew Monday at Summit lake versus Team Diesel. Shortstop and cleanup hitter Ethan Reese broke his wrist the previous doubleheader sliding into third base, he is out 4-6 weeks. Tyler Asbury started on the hill and had arm problems, leaving with nobody out in the 4th. The Defense didn't help him as three defensive miscues gave Diesel two unearned runs.

Thats all Diesel would need as the Crew bats were nonexistant, mustering only 3 hits, striking out 6 times. Jake Stahl had two of them and Bill Vincent finally broke out and got his first hit as a member of the Canton Crew.

The only bright spot, if there is any, was the superb relief work of Crew rookie Rob Blevins. Blevins went 3 innings only surrending one hit and walking one.

The Crew now go into a Sunday doubleheader against the powerful Akron Lasiks on a cold streak. Dave Ford and Nate Miller will be on the mound. Stow HS 1pm start for game one.

6.12.11

Canton Crew 1 at Players i Bulls 5

Game one saw Jason Bogavich take to the mound for the first time this season. Except for a few bad pitches, one of which was crushed for a solo home run in the 1st, Jason pitched well. Going all 6 innings, giving up 5 runs(2 earned) on four hits, walking noone.

The Crew could not solve the Bulls hurler, who tossed a 4 hitter, striking out six.

Canton Crew 7 at Players i Bulls 5

Game two saw Crew ace Dave Ford start out erratic, giving up 3 runs in the first on three hits. Ford settled down and pitched very well, giving the Crew offense time to get back into the game. Ford pitched all 9 innings, tying a Crew record.

The Crew offense didn't start clicking until the sixth, down four, Ryker Locke drove in the first run, and Brett Sitzler hit a two run double down the third base line to get within one. in the 7th Matt Tafe was hit by a pitch and scored on Jake Stahls game tying double to send it to extra innings.

In the 9th the Crew put the game out of reach with Ethan Reese leading off with a double and Jake Stahl getting hit by a pitch. Ryker Locke laid down a bunt and the Catcher made an errant throw loading the bases. AJ Kile lined out and the Bulls threw the ball away trying to double up Stahl, plating one. Todd McCutcheon and Brett Sitzler then both singled to bring home the win.

6.10.11

Team Diesel 3 at Canton Crew 1

Nate Miller made his debut on the mound and it was a tale of two pitchers. One was dominant, only allowing 2 hits and throwing good quality strikes. The other was erratic, hitting two batters, walking five, and wasn't helped by two defensive errors to let Team Diesel take the lead and never look back.

A.J. Kile was the only Crew player to drive in a run, getting his first hit of the season before the game was called in the top of the 6th due to lightning.

6.8.11

Canton Crew 6 at Alliance AA 10

Steve Scolaro return to the mound for the Crew didn't last very long, as he wasn't able to get out of the first inning. Scolaro struggled with command, walking five and giving up nine runs before being relieved by Dave Ford. Ford went 3.2 scoreless and Rob Blevins made his first appearance for the Crew going 2 innings giving up one run.

The offense tried to rally back, but the deficit was too great. Tom DeAngelis kept swinging a hot stick, going 2 for 4 with an RBI. Ryker Locke and John Vasiliades both made their debuts for the Crew, going 2-4 with an RBI apiece.

Next up is Team Diesel on Friday, 6-10 at LCCS. The Crew will send Nate Miller to the mound to get back to their winning ways.

6.6.11

Players i Bulls 4 at Canton Crew 14

The Crew offense jumped out early and never stopped in the 5 inning mercy victory against the players i Bulls. Tyler Asbury cruised through 4 scoreless innings before the Bulls finally got to him in the 5th, scoring 4 runs. The offense quickly countered in the bottom of the 5th to get the victory provided by Jake Stahls GW RBI single.

TJ Howsare led the charge going 2 for 4 with a HR and 2 RBI. Ethan Reese and Jake Stahl had 3 RBIs apiece and Matt Tafe continued his hot hitting ways going 2-3 with 3 Runs Scored and an RBI.

Next up for the Crew is the Alliance AA team at LCCS. This will be an away game. Steve Scolaro will return to the mound for the Crew after a season layoff.

6.1.11

Alliance 2 at Canton Crew 5

The Crew came out firing to open the 2011 campaign and Dave Ford led the charge on the mound, throwing his best game as a Crew member. Ford went 7 strong innings taking a no hitter into the 7th until finally surrending the first and only hit he allowed.

Offensively, aggressive baserunning led to some errant throws by Alliance, giving the Crew 2 unearned runs. Adding to that was Brett Sitzler who had an RBI and Matt Tafe who went 2-3 with a HR and two RBI. Ethan Reese also went 2 for 2 with a RS in the game.

Next up will be the Players i Bulls at home June 6th. 6:30 game time
